It's about your network ....

While the digitalization of ProAV products and systems is progressing at a strong pace, media networking has become the predominant paradigm for signal transport and system structures. We have to expect that

• Virtually all electronic AV products will become fully networked products.
• The value of a product will primarily become determined by its capability to be integrated into a network environment.
• The market for products, that can not be networked will shrink and become a side show.
  
  

While networking comes along as a big promise it isn't that easy at all for users. Since 2004 I have been researching the user perception of network technologies and solutions and I have been observing upcoming technologies and trends:

• There is no one-size-fits-all media network solution for all ProAV use-cases.
  
• Networking becomes a 'game-killer' when manufacturers lose their ability for introducing customer-driven innovation or when users simply start waisting their time with irrelevant tasks, just for getting signals from A to B.
  
  

For manufacturers this is a phase of difficult and critical decisions on a subject, that is of almost no interest to the artist or the vistor of a show.
